Severe adverse events are often announced in advance. There are often signs and
symptoms which are pronounce an up getting crisis. Now, 80% of resuscitations on
hospitalized patients are avoidable. To recognize predictive signs and symptoms and
to respond on it immediately, could save lives. So it’s a very important teaching
strategy to exercise different situations, which could be evolved to a severe adverse
event – escalated in resuscitation. Now, ICU-patients are in a very complex situation
– they’re often not able to communicate, they’ve often multi organ dysfunctions and
there are from the beginning in a life threatened situation. Changes in their health
conditions are going on often very rapidly. So it’s very important to exercise with the
staffs on their units with the stuff their commonly used. These exercise units include
EKG-interpretation, Blood-Gas-Analysing, Laboratory changes and especially
communication in a team – Team-Leading isn’t a workgroup! And especially
communication in an emergency situation is a very difficult challenge. These
package of teaching and exercising are able to improve knowledge of development
to severe adverse events and could help to avoid this fatal situations.
